COORS COWBOY CLUB WILL PRODUCE WOMEN’S RANCH RODEO ASSOCIATION WORLD FINALS AT AMARILLO NATIONAL CENTER IN OCTOBER, 2011

WRRA and Coors Cowboy Club Reach Five Year Agreement

January 18, 2011.... The Coors Cowboy Club of Amarillo, TX and the Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association (WRRA) have announced that the WRRA’s 2011 World Finals will be held at the Amarillo National Center October 13, 14, 15 and produced by the Coors Cowboy Club. The two groups have agreed to have the event in Amarillo for the next five years.

WRRA rodeos feature 4-women teams competing in five different events including sorting, trailer loading, doctoring, tie down/mugging and branding. There will be 16 teams competing in the finals.  There will also be a WRRA event as part of the Coors Club Ranch Rodeo being produced by the Coors Cowboy Club in Amarillo on June 4, 2011.

The WRRA was formed in 2005 by a group of women who wanted to have their own association and compete among themselves. Billie Franks, one of the original organizers and still the group’s key administrator said.  “We enjoy competing against each other and we have demonstrated that we have the skills required to excel at this sport. We believe holding our World Finals in Amarillo each fall will alert rodeo fans to our sport and our association,” she said. “We are extremely pleased to partner with the Coors Cowboy Club in this program. The Club has extensive experience producing and promoting ranch rodeos and other events in Amarillo. We all believe the popularity of this event will grow each year, she added.”

Chris Reed of the Coors Cowboy Club noted that the agreement creates a unique opportunity for rodeo fans in Amarillo and the surrounding area to learn about and enjoy an important type of ranch rodeo competition.  “The women who compete in the WRRA are skilled cowgirls. Many of them live on working ranches compete in other ranch rodeos and roping events throughout the year.  Those attending the World Finals will certainly find the level of competition and the excitement of the event to their liking, he said.”

The Coors Cowboy Club was formed in 2000 to promote Amarillo and the cowboy way which means helping your neighbor. The Club consists of more than 100 active members from varied backgrounds and occupations. It was formed in response to a perceived need in the community for volunteer manpower for numerous events, functions and charities in and around the Texas Panhandle. It has helped host events such as The National Cutting Horse Association, United States Team Pinning Association and The Cowboy Mounted Shooters competitions. Members also volunteer with programs sponsored by Eveline Rivers' Make a Child Smile Project, AQHA, 100Club of Amarillo, WTAMU Athletics, Khiva Shrine, Homes for our Troops and Amarillo area law enforcement.

COWGIRL TUFF CLOTHING COMPANY AND WOMEN’S RANCH RODEO ASSOCIATION REACH SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT.

Pueblo, Colorado, June 7, 2010------,   Cowgirl Tuff, one of the nation’s fastest growing marketers of women’s western clothing has reached a sponsorship agreement with the Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association for the remainder of 2010 season and for the 2011 season.

In return for merchandising and publicity coverage at WRRA rodeos and marketing support through the Association’s other media relations and marketing programs, Cowgirl Tuff will provide merchandise coupons which will be given to cowgirls winning certain events at WRRA rodeos.

The WRRA, formed in 2005, features women‑only teams competing in a series of ranch rodeos throughout the year, culminating in a national finals each October.  Between eight and 12 teams compete in five events at each rodeo. Each team has four contestants. The events include sorting, trailer loading, doctoring, tiedown/mugging and simulated branding.

In 2010 the WRRA will produce or sanction at least 16 rodeos throughout Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. The 2010 Finals will be held in Lyons, KS in October. During 2011 the Association’s goals are to add more rodeos and increase the number of teams.

“The WRRA cowgirls, many of whom also live on working ranches exemplify the personality, value and quality of the Cowgirl Tuff brand,” said Lisa Bollin, founder and owner of the company. “They are tough, hardworking women on horseback, in the arena dirt and at home but they also appreciate high quality, popular, fashionable western clothing when they aren’t working or competing. We look forward to our relationship with WRRA.

“We are thrilled to have Cowgirl Tuff as a marketing partner,” added Billie Franks, the administrator of the WRRA. “Every cowgirl knows about the company and the brand. We believe this will be a very productive program for both organizations.”

Donnell Rodeo Promotions which represents the WRRA assisted with the development of the sponsorship plan.

WOMEN’S RANCH RODEO ASSOCIATION PERFORMANCES

May 28, 2010 ...  Cowgirls from throughout Kansas and Oklahoma are expected to arrive in Caney, KS on Friday June 4 and Saturday June 5 to compete in two all-women’s ranch rodeos at the Caney Rodeo Grounds sponsored by the Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association. Performances will begin at 8:00 p.m. each evening.

The WRRA formed in 2005 features 4-women teams competing in five different events including sorting, trailer loading, doctoring, tie down/mugging and branding. Eight to ten teams compete regularly at each rodeo.

WRRA rodeos were scheduled in 10 Kansas communities this year and the Association will bring its 2010 Finals back to Lyons in October for the second consecutive year. Other WRRA events are scheduled in New Mexico and Texas.

One of the Association’s goal is to sanction even more rodeos in other states and it invites any rodeo producer or committee that is interested to contact it.  It is also very interested in recruiting more cowgirls to compete. WOMEN’S RANCH RODEO ASSOCIATION OPENS 2010 SEASON AT ROAN HORSE ARENA ON FEBRUARY 27

February 19, 2010  ...  Cowgirls from throughout Kansas and Oklahoma are expected to converge on Pawhuska on February 17, to compete in the Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association’s first event of the year. The rodeo will begin at noon.

WRRA features women-only teams competing in a series of ranch rodeos throughout the year culminating in a national finals in October. Like other ranch rodeos, WRRA rodeos are team events with four contestants. Ten teams are expected to enter the Pawhuska event.

The Association currently has 14 rodeos scheduled for 2010. The Finals will be held in October in Lyons, KS.  Association spokesperson Ms. Billie Franks said there is a possibility of two or three more rodeos to be scheduled before the year is over.

Ranch rodeos feature events that require strong horsemanship skills as well as a knowledge of cattle and replicate those tasks still carried out on working ranches every day. For many years, women have competed on ranch rodeo teams along with men. In 2005, a group of these women decided to form the WRRA to compete among themselves similar to women’s competition in  golf, tennis, soccer and basketball.

One of the Association’s goal is to sanction even more rodeos in other states and it invites any rodeo producer or committee that is interested to contact it.  More information is available at www.rodeopromotions.com and at www.womensranchrodeo.com.  Primary sponsors of the WRRA rodeos include Total Equine horse feed.
